
Space Mountain, Star Tours, injuries reported in 4th quarter 2019
An 89-year-old woman with a pre-existing medical condition experienced a temporary loss of consciousness on Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom on Dec. 10, 2019, according to a state report.
This was one of nine incidents reported by Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland and Busch Gardens last quarter to the state as part of its agreement to self-disclose visitors who were sick or hurt on rides and spent at least 24 hours in the hospital.
From October through December 2019, four incidents were reported by Walt Disney World, four by Universal Studios and one by Busch Gardens. Sea World and Legoland did not report any incidents.
The information on the report only includes the age and sex of the individual and a very brief description of the incident.
In addition to the incident on Space Mountain, Disney reported the following:
- Oct. 5, 2019: A 39-year-old woman with a pre-existing condition felt dizzy and had trouble with equilibrium on Star Tours.
- Oct. 8, 2019: A 66-year-old man with a pre-existing condition was ill after riding Star Tours.
- Oct. 31, 2019: A 46-year-old woman suffered from severe head pain, illness and vomiting after riding Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
Universal reported the following:
- Oct. 22, 2019: A 30-year-old man suffered from chest pains. No attraction was identified by the man.
- Nov. 3, 2019: A 57-year-old man suffered from motion sickness on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
- Dec. 13, 2019: A 44-year-old woman reported motion sickness on Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
- Dec. 26, 2019: A 78-year-old man received a knee injury on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
Busch Gardens reported the following incident:
- Dec. 8, 2019: A 67-year-old man suffered bi-lateral knee pain on the Train.
