Sam Eagle is the host of the Regal Eagle Smokehouse coming to Epcot

The most patriotic of the Muppets will be the host of the new Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue coming to The American Adventure pavilion in Epcot.

The restaurant’s name comes from Sam Eagle – remember his famous line in MuppetVision 3-D at Hollywood Studios, “A salute to all nations, but mostly America.”

Regal Eagle Smokehouse will be the site for “Sam’s Centennial Cook-Off: A Salute to All Cook-Offs but Mostly Barbecue.”

The contest is described “as a competition fit for all patriots and pit masters” – as it brings in a variety of classic backyard barbecue selections from across the country to vie for Sam’s top honor. Here’s the full menu.

Sam will also be part of the decorations around the restaurant and will be featured on the merchandise.

Disney has not set a specific date for opening, only saying it will open later this summer.
