New tram stop, security area opened at Epcot
Entering Epcot has again changed with a couple of major improvements, including that you can now go from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot on the monorail at Disney World and not have to go through security a second time.
Construction on the entrance-way to the park started in April with the construction of green covered fencing that created a maze-like walkway from the parking lot and tram drop off area to the bag check area.
Now, a new tram loop has been unveiled as well as a new security area.
Those coming from the parking lot or buses will now go through security that has been set up under the existing monorail building. Disney transformed the space that was used as the tram station and placed the tables and metal detectors in those spaces.
Since the security permiter has now been expanded, those coming off the monorail (yes, you still walk down those long winding ramps) now find themselves behind the security line and can walk straight to the entrance touchpoints. This change completes the circle of security from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Epcot.
While this work is complete, there are still plenty of fences and work continuing around the exterior of the entrance.
