Major Disneyland rides, other projects coming through 2022
Disneyland just finished its largest expansion with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but there is still plenty to come to the resort the next few years.
To help keep everyone on the same page, we’ve created this scorecard on all of the major projects underway. This will be updated each month and when announcements are made. (If you want to see the Disney World version, go here.)
As a reminder, we also have a separate post listing attractions closings and refurbishments for Disney World and Disneyland.
Disneyland
Mickey’s Mix Magic with Fireworks – Nov. 1-3, 2019: This nighttime show comes back for a quick appearance between Halloween and the Holiday season.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Opens Jan. 17, 2020: The new ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge features a battle between the Resistance and the First Order, with an appearance by Rey and Kylo Ren.
Magic Happens – Spring 2020: Magic Happens is a new daytime parade that will go down Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. and celebrate magical moments from Disney stories, including “Moana,” “Coco,” “Sleeping Beauty” and more – all led by Mickey Mouse and the gang. Read more specifics here.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – Spring 2022: This new ride will come to Mickey’s Toontown in 2022. A version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World will open in spring 2020. This first major Mickey-themed ride-through attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short where anything can happen. The action takes place at the El CapiToon theater at Disneyland, where Mickey and Minnie are premiering their newest short, “Perfect Picnic.”
Disney California Adventure
Avengers Campus — Opens 2020: The campus opens on what was the former Bug’s Land and will feature Spider-Man and the Avengers, including members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Thor, Loki, Black Panther and Iron Man.
WEB (the Worldwide Engineering Brigade) – Opens 2020: This will be the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Spider-Man. During an open house at WEB, the aspiring inventors are excited to invite you for a test drive of their latest invention: the “Web Slinger” vehicle, which allows you to sling webs just like Spider-Man.
Pym Test Kitchen Restaurant — Opens 2020: Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies uses the latest innovations to grow and shrink food at this eatery.
Doctor Strange Show — Opens 2020: Doctor Strange hosts a mystic arts show that will use special effects and projections to simulate the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Avengers Headquarters – Opens TBD: The building will become the future entrance to a brand-new E-Ticket attraction where you will step onboard a Quinjet and fly alongside the Avengers in an epic adventure to Wakanda and beyond. You team up alongside the Avengers in a battle to save our world.
DOWNTOWN DISNEY
Asian Street Eats – Winter 2019: Coming this holiday season is Asian Street Eats by Chef Hung Huynh, a new concept from Earl Enterprises, the same restaurant group that brings you Earl of Sandwich and other popular eateries. This trendy take-out window will serve a flavorful variety of Asian dishes and will be located on the west end of the Downtown Disney District.
Jamba Juice – Early 2020: Recently, Jamba Juice announced a more simplified name – Jamba – to better reflect its menu of smoothies, juices and bowls catering to a broad spectrum of tastes. The name change is part of a larger modernization of its store design coming to the Downtown Disney District.
