A look at the Haunted Mansion Holiday 50th anniversary gingerbread house
To celebrate the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary Disneyland has created a special Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house as the centerpiece of the annual holiday makeover.
This is the 19th year that Jack Skellington takes over the mansion for the holidays, dressing up as “Sandy Claws” as he and his ghost dog Zero bring ghoulish delights from Halloween Town to visit Disneyland.
The one special addition is the gingerbread house in the Grand Hall.
This year, the gingerbread house celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion attraction, with 15 spirited, spooky and recognizable ghosts made out of gingerbread.
Take a close look and you’ll find the hitchhiking ghosts, the Phantom Five and even Constance in gingerbread form. Each ghost ranges from 24 to 30 inches tall.
It took 13 days for a team of six culinary cast members from the Disneyland Resort Central Bakery to create the gingerbread mansion. Three of these pastry team members have been part of the Haunted Mansion gingerbread house team since the annual holiday transformation began.
The Haunted Mansion gingerbread house stands nearly 10-feet tall and is made out of:
- 3 gallons of egg whites
- 30 pounds of gingerbread
- 75 pounds of confectioner’s sugar
- 120 pounds of frosting and icing
- 140 pounds of fondant
