Name of new Star Wars hotel at Disney World unveiled at D23 Expo 2019

The new Star Wars hotel being built at the Walt Disney World Resort will be called the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek announced on the eve of D23 Expo 2019.

The hotel, scheduled to open in 2021, will offer two-night adventures aboard a glamorous starship, Disney announced.

Once onboard, guests will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around them on their galactic journey. The hotel is built near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the hotel has “transport” areas, where it is assumed guests will be taken from the hotel into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The ship will be called the Halycon. For the curious, halcyon is defined as characterized by happiness, great success, and prosperity.

Concept art of the ship has been released. And there will be new models on display at the Disney Parks “Imagining Tomorrow, Today” pavilion at D23 Expo.
