Disney World to use virtual queue for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Disney World will be using a virtual queue system to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when the land gets to capacity, similar to what is being used at Disneyland.

Resort guests have been receiving cards instructing them how to use the virtual queue and we expect a larger announcement by Disney about this soon.

The virtual queue is accessed through the My Disney Experience app. Once you enter the park you can launch the app and look for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Status and Access, select Find Out More. The app will then tell you whether the land is open and you can go in or will tell you to join a boarding group. There will also be digital signage alerting you if you need to join a boarding group.

The boarding group will save you a virtual spot in line. You can only use the app to request to be part of a boarding group after entering Hollywood Studios if the virtual line will be used (which it will most likely be used for the near future). You will need to link the theme park tickets of everyone in your party together on the app to request the same boarding group for your entire party. To see which boarding group is currently being admitted to the land, look on the app or digital signage in the park.

If it is similar to Disneyland you would then have 2 hours to enter the land, but we are still awaiting more specifics from Disney World. Those with reservations for Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop, or the Droid Depot would be able to enter the land.

The intention of this is to cut back on the long physical lines that can take place. When Toy Story Land first opened there was a six-hour line just to walk into the land.
