65 mini Disney stores to open in Targets nationwide

Dozens of “shop-within-a-shop” Disney Stores will open inside Target stores across the country over the next 14 months. The first 25 locations will open Oct. 4, with 40 additional locations opening by October 2020, Disney announced during the D23 Expo in Anaheim today.

Each mini Disney Store will carry more than 450 items, including more than 100 products that were previously only available at Disney retail locations.

The joint venture is an opportunity for Disney to expand its retail footprint without investing in standalone stores or putting money into malls, which aren’t the draw they used to be.
