Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens July 11 with new Animation Experience in Animal Kingdom

Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Affection Section and the Wildlife Express Train will reopen July 11 at Animal Kingdom in Disney World with a new wildlife animation experience debuting, Disney announced this morning.

The Animation Experience at Conservation Station will allow guests to learn about and learn how to draw various animals through an instructor-led animation class.

The characters that will be featured will be from “The Lion King,” so you’ll learn how to draw Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon and others. Each session will be different.  Disney FastPass+ Service will be offered for the experience.

According to Disney, you should be able to make this selection starting later today.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch closed on Oct. 21, 2018. Disney never gave an official explanation for the closure. There were numerous rumors going around about retheming and how the Wildlife Express Train needs some refurbishment.

Also returning will be the petting zoo at Affection Section, the veterinary treatment window to see the medical procedures, a look at how animal care experts prepare meals for the park’s animals.
