Review: New Tree of Life Awakenings featuring The Lion King
One of my favorite things to do when staying late at
Tree of Life Awakenings features short stories of animal spirits brought to life by a magical firefly. There’s a story of a young doe going on a journey. A love story between a pair of hummingbirds. A fox spreading gifts throughout the forest. And there are moments when the animals carved into the tree are animated and stretch.
Now, Disney has added a new high-tech projection through Sept. 30 featuring an original music score and themes inspired by “The Lion King.”
The images are fun and very colorful as you watch new interpretations of various scenes from the film, including a young Simba transforming into an adult with Timon and Pumba watching on. The waterfall scene looks so real I had to wonder for a second if there was water being poured down in front of the tree.
The biggest take away was the vibrant colors used throughout the scene that coordinates with the lights used to illuminate parts of the tree. The scene lasts a few minutes and it is definitely worth stopping to see it before leaving the park.
Normally, the show has been ending at 10 p.m., but check the guides when you go.
