How Disneyland will try to help you avoid standing in line to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Lines at Disneyland and Walt Disney World are notorious, not only for attractions but to get into sections of the parks.

Last year, the line to just get into the newly opened Toy Story Land was six hours long at one point. So, we can all imagine what the lines to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will be once the initial reservation period is over.

From May 31 to June 23, reservations are needed to enter the land. Starting June 24, Disney will control entrance by issuing a “boarding pass,’ the Orange County Register reports.

Early morning visitors can head straight into the park, but when it reaches capacity, Disneyland will institute a virtual queuing system. When the land is full you will need to apply for the boarding pass.

Push notifications will be sent to visitors when it’s time for their boarding group to enter the land. Kiosks throughout the park will issue paper boarding passes to visitors not using the smartphone app.

In the meantime you’ll be able to visit the rest of the park. There will be a two-hour window to show up after getting your notice. And there will be no time limit for you to stay in the land.

“It’s very, very important for us that our guests who are coming here don’t spend their time standing in line to get into the land,” Disneyland vice president Kris Theiler told the Orange County Register.

We already know that Disney World is trying to avoid the long lines by announcing Extra, Extra Magic Hours for resort guests, who will be allowed into Hollywood Studios from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Sept. 1 to Nov. 2 to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
