Disney Skyliner gondolas unwrapped at Disney World

The white wrapping was removed on the Disney Skyliner gondolas in Walt Disney World today for a special test.

The colorful cabins featuring graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters, filled the sky as they moved back-and-forth between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  

“Its a huge milestone for us,” Mark White, Ride Mechanical Engineer Senior, Walt Disney Imagineering, said in a video released by Disney.

“We’re bringing all the cabins out from our parking system and we’re bringing them out on the line. We’ve taken all of the wrappers off  and uncovered the beauty’s that’s beneath,” he said.

In total, 55 gondolas were unwrapped, according to the Disney Parks Blog.

“We hope that our guests, when they are traveling around Walt Disney World, look up and see the excitement of all of our new cabins and a sense of anticipation for when they get to ride this fall,” Jordan Matthews, Architect, Walt Disney Imagineering, said.

Scheduled to open this fall, the Disney Skyliner will connect Art of Animation Resort, Pop Century Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort and the be Riviera Resort, with Hollywood Studios and Epcot. No dates of when guests will use the system have been annouced.

Each of the gondolas will be adorned with graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters.

The Disney character graphics will include:

  • Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
  • Donald Duck and Daisy Duck
  • Pluto
  • Chip & Dale 
  • Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie
  • R2D2 and C-3PO
  • Goofy
  • Pete, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow
  • Star-Lord and Gamora 

The film graphics will include:

  • Beauty & the Beast”’
  • “Coco”
  • “Finding Dory”
  • “Frozen”
  • “Lilo & Stitch” 
  • “Moana” 
  • “Monsters, Inc.”
  • “Peter Pan” 
  • “The Princess and the Frog” 
  • “Ralph Breaks the Internet”
  • “Ratatouille”
  • “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”
  • “Zootopia” 

The attractions graphics will include:

  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
