Bongos Cuban Cafe at Disney Springs closing in August

Bongos Cuban Cafe, owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan, at Disney Springs will be closing in August, Gloria Estefan told the Orlando Sentinel.

Bongos, which serves Cuban-style cuisine, is one of the oldest restaurants at Disney Springs. It will close after its 22-year lease ends in August, Estefan said.

The restaurant was one of the first celebrity-owned concept restaurants to open. However, over the years the Bongos restaurants that were opened have all closed.

Estefan is opening a new restaurant called Estefan Kitchen in the Margaritaville Orlando Resort.

The closing will allow for further redevelopment of Disney Springs. Over the past few years, Disney Springs has been updating all of the restaurants, in some instances changing concepts completely.

Disney has not yet confirmed the announcement.
