Photos: Construction for new nighttime show in Epcot lagoon

The work on the World Showcase lagoon continues as construction crews work on the two islands in the middle of the lagoon all in preparation of the new nighttime show that will eventually be coming to Epcot.

The current Illuminations show will close in the summer 2019 and a major new show will debut in 2020. In between, a new show called “Epcot Forever” set to classic Epcot tunes will debut as a nighttime spectacular placeholder. In preparation, the lagoon is getting $1.8 million electrical upgrade.

While backhoes have been placed on two islands, it appears work is taking place only on one. Here is a look at what’s going on.
