Height requirements for new Disney Star Wars rides are released

The height restrictions for both of the new rides that will be opening at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Disney World have now been announced by Disney.

Earlier today, Disney announced that it will open the 14-acre lands at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Disney World in phases.

The first phase – taking place May 31 at Disneyland and August 29 at Disney World, will consist of the opening of restaurants, shops ad the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride.

The second phase, which will be announced later, will be for the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

The height requirements will be:

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 38 inches or taller

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 40 inches or taller

Here’s a description of the rides:

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

You are part of the flight crew of the Millennium Falcon and are asked to go on a mission.

“There are 200 some odd buttons, knobs and switches on the inside of the cockpit and they all do stuff. If you’re the gunners in the center there and you don’t fire back on those TIE Fighters fast enough they’re going to riddle the hull with laser bolts, the engineers in back, it’s really up to them to keep the whole Falcon in working order so they’re back there furiously working away at their various systems,” Asa Kalama, Executive Creative Director of the attraction said.

While you wait your turn in the cockpit, you will be able to walk the halls of the Falcon, including the holographic chess-like game called Dejarik that was in the original film, according to the Associated Press.

You will meet a 7-foot-tall Hondo, a Weequay pirate introduced in Clone Wars. Hondo is now the proprietor of Ohnaka Transport Solutions and has been loaned the Millennium Falcon by Chewbacca for some “deliveries.” Hondo will give you your mission.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

This ride is one of the most advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering, D23 writes.

“On a full-size starship, guests play as new Resistance recruits and go on a journey. A hologram image of Rey will appear with a message before guests board their ship and take off from Batuu and head into the orbit,” AP writes.

“A tractor beam pulls the transport into the Destroyer, and when the doors open guests are standing in a giant auditorium-sized First Order hangar, filled with scores of Stormtroopers, and hung with TIE Fighters along the walls,” Entertainment Weekly writes.

You are then taken to a cell, which is similar to the room where Kylo Ren tortured Poe Dameron. You then get broken out and placed on a trackless cart that takes you through the remainder of the ride where you eventually met Kylo Ren.
