Disney World makes big change to FastPass+ reservations to fight abuse

Starting today, Disney World is cracking down on a certain type of FastPass+ trick that certain guests have been using, according to Inside the Magic.

Disney will start canceling FastPass+ reservations associated with canceled Disney World resort reservations.

What some people do is make a hotel reservation to take advantage of the 60-day FastPass+ booking window. After getting their FastPasses, they then cancel their hotel reservation within enough time to obtain a refund of their deposit. Yet, the FastPass+ reservations have remained.

According to Inside the Magic, starting today, Disney will start canceling those FastPass+ reservations as well.

Those who do not stay at a Disney World resort property get a 30-day advance window to book FastPass+ reservations.

Apparently, the amount of abuse had gotten so high that Disney realized this was an issue and is taking action.

Interestingly, this is also happening before the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World this fall. This new policy would impact people who may have been trying to find a way to get the FastPass+ reservations without having to stay on property.

Disney has been cracking down on various abuses recently. At Disneyland, some annual passholders their passes revoked if they were found to be using their discounts to resell merchandise online.
