Photos: Maleficent dragon returns to Festival of Fantasy Parade

Maleficent, the steampunk fire-breathing dragon, returned to the Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy Parade today to the cheers of the crowd.

The 53-foot long, 26-foot high dragon caught fire on May 11, 2018, during the parade and has been out of service until today’s parade. In addition to the dragon, the entire Sleeping Beauty section of the parade was benched.

Joining the dragon in its return are Prince Phillip; the Fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather; and the mischievous “Ravens” who fly around Maleficent just waiting to do her bidding.

The Festival of Fantasy Parade is a celebration of all beloved Disney stories you will find in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. The procession features nearly 100 performers and Disney characters, with floats specifically telling the stories of all the Princesses, “Tangled,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Peter Pan,” “Brave,” Sleeping Beauty,” and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and their friends.
