Disney Skyliner begins tests, gondola themes announced
Disney workers have placed newly delivered gondolas on cables and started tests of the new Disney Skyliner at Disney World.
The Skyliner’s towers have been under construction for about a year, as have been the stations.
Crews have been working on mechanical and electrical installations and final theming of the new stations, said Jordan Matthews of Walt Disney Imagineering.
Scheduled to open this fall, the Disney Skyliner will connect Art of Animation Resort, Pop Century Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort and the be Riviera Resort, with Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
The first delivery of gondolas came this past week “and a few have been chosen to go out on the line and start testing, ” Matthews said.
Each of the gondolas will be adorned with graphics based on Disney films, attractions
The Disney character graphics will include:
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
- Donald Duck and Daisy Duck
- Pluto
- Chip & Dale
- Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie
- R2D2 and C-3PO
- Goofy
- Pete, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow
- Star-Lord and Gamora
The film graphics will include:
- Beauty & the Beast”’
- “Coco”
- “Finding Dory”
- “Frozen”
- “Lilo & Stitch”
- “Moana”
- “Monsters, Inc.”
- “Peter Pan”
- “The Princess and the Frog”
- “Ralph Breaks the Internet”
- “Ratatouille”
- “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”
- “Zootopia”
The attractions graphics will include:
- The Haunted Mansion
- Pirates of the Caribbean
