Disney CEO let’s slip when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in Disneyland

In a broad-ranging Q&A with Barron’s Disney CEO Bob Iger gave away the month the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland.

Disney previously only announced that the new 14-acre land would open in summer 2019. But Iger told Barron’s, “When Star Wars opens in Anaheim in June and in Florida later in the year, that’s adding capacity. You’re adding 14 acres of land (each), more rides and more for people to do. It’s the biggest land we’ve ever built.”

Theme park officials declined to comment on the date. The Disney World version of the land is scheduled to open in the fall.

Robert Niles, Theme Park Insider editor last year speculated the June Disneyland opening by comparing the annual passholder blockout dates from 2018 and 2019. He even went further and speculates the new land will open on the weekend of June 21-23.
