How the Italy Pavilion in Epcot celebrates the holidays
La Befana, the good-natured witch, helps visitors to the Italy Pavilion at Epcot learn how children in Italy celebrate the holidays.
Families gather to share age-old traditions. Many families attend Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and afterward sit down for a traditional feast. The children, however, do no get presents on Christmas Day. Instead, they wait for the eve of the Epiphany.
This is when La Befana climbs down the chimney to fill their socks with treats. Unless you are naughty, you then get coal.
Year after year, La Befana wanders the countryside in search of the baby Jesus, leaving gifts for good children in his honor.
