Walt Disney World Railroad to close Dec. 3 for Tron construction

The Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily cease its grand tour of the Magic Kingdom starting Dec. 3, 2018, so construction for Tron can take place. No date has been set for when the railroad will start up again.

In the meantime, an engine and train will be temporarily located at the Main Street Station to allow guests to get an up-close look at the train and take photos.

Previously announced is the Jan. 2, 2019, temporary closing of the Tomorrowland Speedway as well for the Tron construction.

The Tron attraction is scheduled to debut in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, It is based on TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland.

The coaster-style attraction allows riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a race through the digital frontier. TRON Lightcycle Power Run debuted on Shanghai Disneyland’s opening day.
