Review: Re-imagined World of Disney at Disney Springs
The final touches were unveiled this weekend at the World of Disney at Disney Springs in Disney World.
When the pixie dust cleared, the store contains animations on walls and signs around the store. As we previously wrote, the store pays homage to both of Disneyâs great animation studios: Disneyâs original Burbank studio and the Pixar Animation Studio building in Emeryville, Calif.
The brick and the exposed beams mirror the Pixar Studio building, and the typeface used in the âcashierâ sign (and perhaps elsewhere) can be found at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Calif.
The counters in the checkout area are designed to resemble animation tables and storage cabinets.
âThe new store design highlights the best of what is current and new, while also celebrating classic Disney heritage based in storytelling,” Alysia Kelley, vice president of visual merchandising and location strategy for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in a statement.
The animations on the displays include ink jars suddenly swirling with color and animate artwork on the walls. Blank pages fill with pencil sketches as if drawn by an invisible hand. Movie posters twinkle with pixie dust before coming to life.
The new store is spacious with wider aisles than the previous incarnation. The areas are more clearly marked for the various merchandise such as Marvel, T-shirts, Princesses, Ears, Toys and Star Wars.
While there may be some who appreciate the former look of the store for its farm whimsical approach, this incarnation allows more flexibility for animations as displays change.
