The real surprise scene in ‘Christopher Robin’
If you are planning on seeing Disney’s “Christopher Robin” once the credits start at the end of the movie do nothing and it will lead to one of the very best somethings in the film.
While Marvel has become the master of post-credit scenes, this live-action sequel of what happened to Winnie-the-Pooh’s best friend contains a special something after the first round of credits pass. I don’t consider this a spoiler, but, if you really like surprises, then you should bounce away now.
The scene shows various characters from the movie enjoying a day at the beach. What you hear and see is an older gentleman at a piano playing an upbeat song called “Busy Doing Nothing.” The man is Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman, who at 90-years-old composed the song for the movie.
This is the same man who co-wrote the “Winnie the Pooh” theme and “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers” with his brother Robert B. Sherman.
The Sherman Brothers wrote more motion-picture musical song scores than any other songwriting team in film history. And when under contract to Disney from 1960 to 1973 the duo created many iconic songs not only for the Disney films – think “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” – but also Disney theme parks – think “It’s a Small World.”
The two were portrayed by Jason Schwartzman (Richard M. Sherman) and B.J. Novak (Robert B. Sherman) in the movie about the making of Mary Poppins, “Saving Mr. Banks.”
Unfortunately, Robert B. Sherman passed away in 2012.
Here are some of the musical highlights of the duo:
