New overpass at Magic Kingdom to open on August 15, 2018

Traffic patterns near the entrance to the Magic Kingdom will once again change with the opening of a new overpass.

Starting August 15, 2018, drivers heading north on World Drive to the Magic Kingdom-area resorts will be able to use the new overpass that will go over the lanes leading to the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

The $65 million flyover is intended to ease congestion.

So when heading toward the Magic Kingdom, here is what you should do as you approach the auto plaza entrance:

Drivers heading Magic Kingdom-area resorts, Disney University, Center Drive:  If you are going to the area resorts, including the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Polynesian Village Resort, Contemporary Resort, and Wilderness Lodge), Disney University and Center Drive drivers  should remain in the left lanes to continue straight on northbound World Drive across the new overpass.

Drivers heading to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground: Stay in the right-hand lanes and exit from the right lane on to Vista Boulevard.

Drivers heading to the Magic Kingdom Park: Head toward the auto plaza. Follow appropriate roadway signage and exercise caution when driving around this area.
