ABC to air 2-hour Mickey Mouse special for 90th anniversary
Never-before-seen Mickey Mouse shorts will be part of a special two-hour prime-time special celebrating Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary in November.
ABC announced it will air “Mickey’s 90th Spectacular,” on Nov. 4, 2018, from 8 to 10 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network. The event will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will feature musical performances and moving tributes from superstars from music, film and television.
Don Mischer, one of the most acclaimed producers and directors of television and live events, will produce the show. “I’m delighted to be working on this magical event. Walt Disney was a major influence in my early life and actually inspired me to pursue my life’s work in television,” Mischer said in a news release.
ABC will release the list of performances and special appearances later.
Mickey made his big-screen debut in “Steamboat Willie” on Nov. 18, 1928, Mickey and has been the global ambassador for The Walt Disney Company, which also owns ABC.
