5 limited-edition Marvel Masterworks collectibles released
Have you ever wanted your very own Captain America shield? Now’s your chance.
The shield, scarred with Black Panther’s claw marks, is one of five new Marvel Masterworks collectibles released today to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios.
Each is an authentic duplicate of an iconic film prop that will be made in limited quantities. In addition to Cap’s shield, you can buy a replica of the Mark I Iron Man helmet, Baby Groot puppet from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, T’Chaka’s ring from Black Panther, and Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto (a k a, that thing that holds his Infinity Stone).
The prices are as stunning as the collectibles themselves, ranging from $1,450 for T’Chaka’s ring to $4,100 for Cap’s shield.
And the collectibles do look stunning: Cap’s shield, for instance, is 24 inches in diameter, and consists of more than 50 pieces. The shield’s handles are hand-crafted out of leather “sourced to emulate materials that could have been found in the 1940s” when the shield was made by Howard Stark. The Eye of Agamotto is made mostly of tooled brass, with a hand-crafted leather lanyard. Each piece has similarly special details.
The items are made by Russell Bobbit, head of props for Marvel Studios, and his team. ShopDisney notes that delivery may take more than 24 weeks, and all sales are final. In case you’re thinking about the holidays, 24 weeks gets these collectibles to you after Christmas.
Each piece is presented in a Pelican case similar to those used to transport and store the on-set props and comes with a glass medallion of authenticity, display stand, product pamphlet, and cleaning cloth.
Purchases are limited to one of each item per guest.
