The fierce pirate Redd arrives at Disneyland this week
The fierce pirate Redd will be making her debut at Disneyland June 8, 2018, in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and the streets of New Orleans Square in Disneyland.
The new version of Pirates changes over the Bride Auction scene to match the Disneyland Paris and Disney World versions. The human trafficking and fat shaming aspects of the scene will be removed and transforms the “Redhead” into the pirate Redd.
Gone are the brides and in its place are the townspeople, lined up with their belongings to be auctioned to the pirates. Also gone are the calls for “We wants the Redhead” to “We wants the rum.”
In addition to being seen in the attraction, Redd will be seen walking around and interacting with guests.
Arriving this summer at Disneyland Park is a fierce and independent pirate known as Redd. A bit mysterious by nature, Redd travels to various ports throughout the Caribbean—selling rum and collecting coin. Guests may encounter this mysterious pirate in New Orleans Square beginning Friday, June 8, 2018.
