Here’s how you can help make this Disneyland LEGO set a reality

Imagine the perfect Disney theme park.

Take all of the iconic rides from the various parks and place them on a map. Then take that two-dimensional map and transform it into a three-dimensional Lego map.

That’s what Thomas Karl has done with his creation he calls Disneyland. Now, this Lego builder is trying to get this project considered for a real LEGO kit through the LEGO ideas.

He has posted the build on the LEGO Ideas site and is looking for votes. (Here’s where you can cast your vote.) If he receives 10,000 votes LEGO reviews the project and considers making it into real LEGO kit.

Karl has been building with LEGO bricks since he was a little kid. When he turned 15, he decided to seriously build his own creations. “Creating your own creation is something really interesting because you don’t have any instructions,” the now 20-year-old from Paris, France said.

The Disney fan has already worked to create high scale Disney rides such as Big Thunder Mountain and it’s a small world. He even created the house from “UP.”

Now, the goal was something different a bit more complicated.  “I wanted to create a fictional Disney park grouping the most important rides of every Disney park and decided to call the project the Disneyland map,” he said.

He said spent about a week to complete the final design. The 2,200 set includes the Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, the Mickey Wheel, The Main Street Train Station and of course a castle. He even went on to create a virtual tour of the map.

Working with the smaller blocks is difficult. It takes more time to find the perfect pieces, he said.

He does want to make some changes and maybe add some new rides to the map, but there is a 3,000 brick limit imposed on LEGO Ideas so he said he will first try to reduce the number of pieces of the build first.

As of today has 472 votes and 14 months to reach his ultimate goal. We’ll check back in six months to see how he’s doing.
