Mickey Mouse is now silent at Magic Kingdom meet and greet

Less than a minute

Mickey Mouse will no longer greet guests with “Hi, there,” at the Town Square Meet and Greet in the Magic Kingdom.

Mickey, who started talking to guests at that location in October 2013, will go back to his non-speaking role. Guests can still meet Mickey, but according to cast members, he’s resting his voice.

Disney has made no official announcement. So, we don’t know if this will be permanent or if Mickey will get his voice back.

There is a lot of speculation out in the Disney-verse as to the reason, ranging from money savings to technology to keeping Mickey at the Town Square consistent with the other Mickey’s around Disney World who don’t speak.
