Video of service dog meeting Pluto at Disney World is precious and going viral
A service dog got a treat on a recent trip to Disney World when he got to meet Pluto. You see, Atlas’ favorite toy at home is a Pluto stuffed animal.
Even this service dog, helping out his owner, 22-year-old college student Julian Gavin, could not keep his composure when he was able to get nose-to-nose with Mickey Mouse’s dog companion.
Gavino, a college student at USF-Sarasota, is an annual passholder and tries to make a Disney World visit weekly. He was born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare condition that affects joints, skin and tissue fragility. Gavino got Atlas in November to help him with his mobility.
When video of the meeting hit social media it took off with over half a million views so far. “Atlas and I are so taken a back at the response from our Pluto video. I definitely never expected this when I posted this video in my dogspotting group on Facebook. However, I’m so happy it’s reaching people, making them happy, smile, and hopefully I’m spreading awareness about chronic illness (like, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), and the service dog community,” Gavin wrote in a follow up Facebook post.
Gavin wants to become an occupational therapist after graduation and want to continue to raise awareness about people battling chronic illnesses and the service dog community.
In the meantime, Atlas will also have his stuffed Pluto to keep him company.
