Photos: Disney Springs April 2018 construction update
Building structures are now up around Disney Springs at Walt Disney World and we should start seeing some new retail and restaurant locations open in the next few months.
Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney, is a themed retail, dining and entertainment center inspired by Florida’s waterfront towns, historic architecture and natural beauty. The promenade features four distinct areas ―The Landing, Marketplace, West Side and Town Center. The idea is that this town was built around a springs.
The name was changed in September 2015. The three-year renovation and expansion of the area would include 150 new tenants and two parking structures.
But even after complete, more change was announced. Here’s the latest:
Jaleo. Scheduled for later in 2018. This new Spanish restaurant is operated by Chef José Andrés the restaurant includes an extensive tapas menu and rich traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine. Having spent a lot of time at other Jaleo restaurants in the U.S., this will be a nice addition to the offerings at Disney Springs.
NBA Experience. Scheduled for Summer 2019. The building, on the former site of DisneyQuest, is starting to take shape and is finally going vertical. The new NBA Experience will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store and an adjacent restaurant. Aerial photo is courtesy of @bioreconstruct.
Wine Bar George. Scheduled for Spring 2018. This new wine bar at Disney Spring next to Raglan Road is being opened by Master Sommelier George Miliotes. There shoud be an opening day announcement any day. The menu will include a selection of small plates, sharable plates, cheese and charcuterie boards, and desserts with the wines.
Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill. Scheduled for 2018. This will be the newest location for Wolffgang Puck, next to the Coca-Cola store. The roof has finally gone up on the structure.
DisneyStyle scheduled for May 2018. This store is being opened on the west side of the Disney Springs and will be the first Disney-centric store on on this part of the complex. This should also be a big relief to Disney shoppers as the World of Disney is under renovation.
Third parking garage. This third parking garage at Disney Springs, is under construction and should be complete by 2019. (Aerial photo by @bioreconstruct)
Terralina Crafted Italian scheduled in 2018. James Beard Award winning chef, Tony Mantuano, brings crafted Italian cooking inspired by Italy’s Lake District. This restaurant is located next to the Paddlefish. Aerial photo by ,@bioreconstruct.
