Mickey Mouse placed on Euro coins in France
To celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday France’s national mint, Monnaie de Paris, created special Euro coins celebrating Mickey called “Mickey et la France.”
A total of 2 million coins will be minted in a variety of values: from €10 to €200. And yes, the coins are legal tender, but most will probably go to collectors.
The value coins are broken down this way: there will be 10 different €10 coins, two different €50 silver coins and a €200 gold coin.
Mickey is placed in front of a variety of iconic French locations including the Eiffel Tower, the castles of the Loire, the cliffs of Etretat or Mont Saint-Michel. The €50 coin also features Minnie Mouse, who shares an anniversary with Mickey Mouse.
Disney approached the mint with the idea to help celebrate Mickey’s birthday, according to LeParsien. The mint’s artists created the images with approval by Disney.
