Black Panther could break the $1 billion mark
“Black Panther” topped the weekend box office for the third week in a row and is the second highest grossing domestic film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
The film has crossed the $500 million mark and is just behind “Marvel’s The Avengers.” Internationally, “Black Panther” is now number five on the list of MCU films and is about $100 million short of reaching the $1 billion mark.
Internationally, China is the last country for this film to open. That will happen this weekend.
“Disney’s presentation of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ is on the verge of hitting $900 million globally as it crosses the $500 million mark to become the tenth highest grossing film of all-time in North America,” comScore’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian said.
