Black Panther pounces over the $1 billion mark

“Black Panther” has just crossed the $1 billion worldwide mark and remained number one in the box office this past week.

The latest Marvel film brought in $41.1 million this past weekend. Meanwhile, Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time” came in second during its opening week with an estimated $33.3 million.

Domestically, Black Panther is the seventh largest domestic release of all time with $562 million.

Internationally, “Black Panther” opened in China, the final major market, where it opened $66.5 million. This brought the worldwide total of the movie to $1.078 billion, placing it 21st on the all-time list of worldwide grosses. It is also the fifth highest grossing Marvel film of all time to reach the billion dollar mark.

Here are the five Marvel films that have made over $1 billion.

Marvel’s The Avengers – $1.518 billion
Avengers: Age of Ultron – $1.405 billion
Iron Man 3 – $1.214 billion
Captain America: Civil War – $1.1534 billion
Black Panther – $1.079 billion
