‘Game of Thrones’ creators will make new series of Star Wars films
The creators behind “Game of Thrones” will be creating a new series of Star Wars films, Lucasfilm has announced.
The new films will be separate from a trilogy being developed by
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson as well as the nine-films in the original Skywalker Saga, to be wrapped up by the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have helmed the Emmy Award-winning series “Game of Thrones” based on fantasy novel series created by George R. R. Martin. The series will wrap up its final season in 2019.
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
