Special Black Panther-inspired outfits debuting at New York Fashion Week
Marvel Studios is merging with high fashion at New York Fashion Week with “Black Panther: Welcome to Wakanda.”
The Feb. 12, event will feature one-of-a-kind pieces interpreting different characters and themes from the movie.
Designers including Chromat, Cushnie et Ochs, Fear of God, Ikiré Jones, Laquan Smith, Sophie Theallet and Tome.
The seven special fashion pieces will be unveiled at the event and placed in a Wakanda-inspired venue. After the vent, the items will be auctions off on Charitybuzz.com in support of Save the Children.
“Each of our partners has taken inspiration from the incredible storytelling, empowering characters and iconic look of the movie, while bringing their own unique aesthetic to each design,” Jimmy Pitaro, chairman of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, said in a statement.
“Black Panther,” will be released in the U.S. on Feb. 16. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman. Among the cast members are Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Forest Whitaker and Winston Duke.
