World of Disney undergoing major renovations at Disneyland, Disney World
The World of Disney stores in Disneyland and Disney Springs at Disney World will be undergoing major renovations in 2018, Disney announced.
The work is expected to begin in mid-February. While the stores will remain open during the work, portions of the stores will be closed off.
To help ease the shopping and keep the merchandise available Disney Springs will be opening the Disney Corner store in the Town Center section of Disney Springs. This will be located near the Lime Garage escalator.
This will contain select merchandise, presumably from the sections that will be closed off while the renovation takes place. Other merchandise will be found in the Ever After Jewelry Co., also in Town Center, which now contains jewelry and accessories.
The Disney Corner is expected to open in mid-February.
Disney World’s World of Disney Store, which touts itself as the largest Disney Store in the world (that is planet Earth), was expanded a few years ago.
At Disneyland, additional items will be able to be found at the recently opened Dream Boutique, as well as the Disney Home store opening February 2018 in the former D-Street location.
Work on the World of Disney stores will be completed in phases throughout 2018.
The only hint of what type of change was the following: “When the interior redesign work is completed, guests will discover the products they love from Disney Parks in a dynamic and distinctly Disney retail environment.”
Previously, Disney announced it was redesigning Disney Stores throughout the nation to to move away from its primary child-centric assortment and become more of a destination place with more interactive experiences.
This took place as Disney in September 2017 changed its online story name and look to shopDisney.com.
