Rumor: Figment’s Dreamfinder to return to Epcot

Speculation that Dreamfinder will be again teaming up with our favorite purple dragon, Figment, in Epcot is back.

There is new talk, and from what we’ve heard from cast members, we might actually see a return of this dynamic duo to Disney World.

However, since nothing has been officially announced by Disney. And, we have not yet seen or heard anything more substantial, we are going to still designate this a rumor.

The 2018 Epcot International Festival of the Arts has turned everyone’s attention back to the Festival mascot – Figment. The purple dragon, with two wings, horns, big yellow eyes and child-like curiosity can be seen on merchandise and even appears in various works of art around Epcot.

The Dreamfinder created Figment. He first appeared in the original incarnation of Journey Into Imagination at Epcot from 1982 to 1998.

The current Journey into Imagination with Figment ride has been around since 2002 and the concept of the Imagination Institute is getting a bit long in the tooth. The entire Imagination Pavilion has remained relatively stagnant for the past 15 years.

Other changes in the pavilion have include the change in 3-D movies,  with the current show being the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival.

A return does not have to mean a revamp of the ride. It could also mean a physical appearance by Dreamfinder with Figment on his arm walking around the park.

Outside the park, Dreamfinder and Figment received steampunk makeovers in the Marvel Comics version of Figment in 2014.

Back at Epcot, announcements have already been made on major projects. This includes: the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster and a Mission: Space-style restaurant. As Disney World approaches its 50th anniversary soon, more changes are expected to come.
