Flights of Wonder will close at the end of the year at Animal Kingdom

The Flights of Wonder bird show at the Animal Kingdom will close at the end of the year.

Cast members are saying that there will be a new show at the same location using birds, but it is not clear when that will open. No official announcement has been made by Disney, but the last show listed on the Disney website is for Dec. 31, 2017.

Flights of Wonder has been around since the park first opened nearly 20 years ago. The Caravan Stage, where the show takes place has undergone a number of renovations over the years and is one of our favorite attractions.

The show features a bird trainer and the famed Guano Joe or Jane helping the audience learn about the exotic birds, their natural behaviors and various talents (watch out for the dollar bills). A number of the birds swoop over the audience to demonstrate their wingspans. And if you get lucky, you can go on stage to grab a photo or video of a bird coming in for a landing behind you.
