‘Frozen’ star Kristen Bell performs for families at Hurricane Irma shelter
Kristen Bell, who is riding out Hurricane Irma in the Swan and Dolphin Resort at Disney World, is pitching in an doing what she can to keep morale high as everyone prepares for the hurricane to hit the Orlando area.
Bell and 86 members of a film crew relocated to the Disney World Dolphin Hotel on Friday (Sept. 9), after having to leave Fort Lauderdale where she and crew were filming the upcoming movie “Like Father.“
She said the hotel staff at this resort as well as other resorts have been fantastic taking people in, including a few thousand seniors who were evacuated from southern Florida.
Known by Disney fans for giving voice to Princess Anna in “Frozen,” Bell spent part of the morning at an Orland shelter for people who are trying to escape the storm.
She sang a few songs for the people at Meadow Woods Middle School in Orlando and joked on social media”When your’e #singinginahurricane, your volunteer back up dancers can & will steal the show. Richard and Rebecca everyone!” One of the back dancers looked to be an Orange County Sheriff’s Officer.
She told the news show that everyone is trying to make the most of the situation. “Everyone is kind of making lemonade here,” she said. Bell also used her Twitter feed to forward Hurricane Irma tips and also updates from officials.
The outer bands of the storm are already impact Central Florida. The brunt of the storm should come to the Disney World area with wind gusts of up to 85 mph, according to area weather forecasters.
