Disney World plans reopen after Hurricane Irma, announces hours of operation

Disney World will reopen its theme parks on Tuesday, Sept. 12, after being closed for two days due to Hurricane Irma.

The resort closed all of its parks Saturday, Sept. 10 at 9 p.m., but keep the resorts open for the thousands of guests who were riding out the storm. Irma passed over Disney World with 90 mph gusts. No major damage has been reported by Disney. There were tree limbs strewn all around.


Parks hours were announced as follows:

Magic Kingdom: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with Extra Magic Hours at 8 a.m. Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Party will also take place

Epcot:  9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with Extra Magic Hours from 9 to 11 p.m.

Hollywood Studios: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Animal Kingdom: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Kilimanjaro Safaris will open at 1 p.m. to allow for continued clean-up from the storm.

Disney Springs: 10 a.m. to midnight.

The water parks Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will remain closed but will open again later this week.

In addition the Tree House Villas at Saratoga Springs, which were closed will reopen Thursday, Sept. 14. No announcements have been made on when Fort Wilderness Campground will open again.
