Disney World pulls Hocus Pocus merchandise from shelves before Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Disney has done a great job reviving the cult of Hocus Pocus for Halloween, but cast members were told not to stock shelves with special Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular merchandise as the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2017 at the Magic Kingdom was about to begin.

No specific reason was given to the Disney World cast members. The merchandise was in hand, but the decision, we were told, was sent out at 4 p.m. to the cast members, as guests starting arriving for the party. The cast members were told not to stock the shelves.

It was unknown if the merchandise (pictured below), which includes two t-shirts, a pin, a tote bag, ornament and a 4,000 limited edition MagicBand 2 would be available at future events. Cast members directed people to call Customer Service on Monday to get the particulars.

Disney had touted the merchandise prior to the party noting it had “expanded the number of items featuring the Sanderson Sisters to include a new light up ornament and a tote bag,” Cathy Dawson, merchandise product developer for special events, told the Disney Parks Blog.

“Hocus Pocus,” a 1993 comedy, horror, fantasy, stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica as the Sanderson Sisters. This trio of witches from Salem, Massachusetts are inadvertently resurrected by a young boy and want to continue their plan to suck out the souls of all of Salem’s children.

The annual airings on the Disney Channel and the former ABC Family stations heed turned the film into a cult hit.

The characters are the focal point of the main show at the Magic Kingdom Halloween Party in the
