American Idol tryouts come to Disney Springs, workers prepare for crowds
Workers were putting up tents, all with portable air conditioners the night before hundreds, if not thousands of people are expected to descend on Disney Springs to try out for American Idol.
The show, which ran on FOX from 2002 to 2016 is returning to the Disney-owned ABC Network in 2018. The “new Idol” bus tour will begin its journey across America at Disney Springs on Aug. 17, 2017.
American Idol producers will be reviewing those trying out (sorry, none of the celebrity judges will be around).
Parking will be available as early as 4 a.m. for those who want to try out at the surface parking lot on the West Side of Disney Springs, near House of Blues and Cirque du Soleil. (There will be no overnight camping allowed on the premises.) Registration will begin at 6 a.m. and auditions will start at 8 a.m. Registration will close at noon, or sooner depending on capacity.
The auditions will take place inside the tents, the lines will be outside so remember your water and sunscreen.
