‘Finding Dory’ crosses the $1B mark, is 5th biggest animated film of all time

“Finding Dory” is the latest Disney movie to cross the $1 billion mark and is the the fifth biggest animated film of all time globally.

The movie has grossed $484.4 million domestically and $516.9 million internationally through Oct. 9, 2016 and is now the 27th movie to cross the big “B” mark, according to Box Office Mojo.

In addition to “Finding Dory,” Disney has four of the five other billion dollar animated films, including: “Frozen,” “Toy Story 3” and “Zootopia.”.

This is also the third Disney movie to cross the billion dollar mark this year. “Zootopia” and “Captain America: Civil War” are the other two release.

“Finding Dory” is opened June 17, 2016 with $135 million, the biggest debut ever for an animated film. The film’s top international market is Japan with $65.9 million, followed by the UK with $55.0 million.

“Finding Dory” is the sequel to the 2003 film “Finding Nemo.” When Dory, the forgetful blue tang remembers she has a family who may be looking for her, she, Marlin and Nemo take off on a quest to find them.
