Actor Donald Glover to play the young Lando Calrissian in upcoming Star Wars film

Actor Donald Glover (best known for appearing in the FX TV series “Atlanta” and “Community) will play the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars film, Lucasfilm announced.

The untitled film, which also stars Alden Ehrenreich, as Han Solo, shows Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld. The film is set for release in 2018.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said in a news release. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations.
