A new ‘Muppet Babies’ is headed to Disney Junior

The Muppet Babies are coming back.

Disney has started production of a new reimagined “Muppet Babies” television series. The CG animated series will feature 11-minute stories following the Muppet Babies on various adventures.

The series will debut on Disney Junior in early 2018.

“Parents will delight in seeing their favorite Muppets in the mixed animation style they remember from the original series, and kids will be introduced to this warm and zany world made just right for the Disney Junior audience,” Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Original Programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, said in a release.

Tom Warburton (“The 7D”) will serve as executive producer and Emmy Award-winner Eric Shaw (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) is story editor.

The Muppet Babies first appeared in a dream sequence in the movie “The Muppets Take Manhattan.”
The original animated series aired on CBS from Sept. 15, 1984 to Nov. 2, 1991.
