New night time attractions at Animal Kingdom debuting Memorial Day Weekend

The new night time attractions at Animal Kingdom in Disney World will now start Memorial Day Weekend, but still without the long-awaited “Rivers of Light” show. Instead a new “Jungle Book” limited show will debut.
A night time safari, new dance parties and a river light show were supposed to kick off on Earth Day, this Friday, April 22, 2016, but Disney said the attractions were not ready and pulled the plug.

Disney will now launch the new attractions Memorial Day Weekend. According to a Disney press release, here is what to expect:
The Tree of Life Awakens: The Tree of Life will undergo “awakenings” throughout the evening as the animal spirits are brought to life by magical fireflies that reveal colorful stories of wonder and enchantment. High-tech projections of nature scenes take on a magical quality as they appear to dramatically emanate from within the Tree of Life.

Kilimanjaro Safaris after Dark: The Kilimanjaro Safaris daytime is artfully bathed in the glow of sunset with special lighting allowing guests to explore this attraction well into the night. During the expedition, guests can now encounter the nighttime behavior of the wildlife and better tune in to the unique vocalization of the animals. Plus, there are two new species to discover: African wild dogs and hyenas.

The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic: The Discovery River becomes the stage for music and pageantry in a limited-engagement show inspired by the live-action film “The Jungle Book.”

Harambe Wildlife Parti: Harambe village will host the new Harambe Wildlife Parti with a variety of entertainers and local street musicians.

Discovery Island Carnivale: The nightly experience has music, dancing,  stilt walkers and tasty culinary creations.
Tiffins Signature Restaurant: A new restaurant opens for both lunch and dinner. “Tiffin” is an Indian English word meaning midday meal or type of container used to carry food while traveling.

The “Rivers of Light” will eventually open, no date has yet been set by Disney. The show, as previously described by Disney “will depict an ancient lantern festival guided by two storytellers who call forth four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl. These Spirit Guides return at different points during the show to lead the audience through their journey through the Rivers of Light.”
