Big Hero 6 television series coming to Disney XD
The creators of “Kim Possible” are teaming up to bring a “Big Hero 6” series to Disney XD in 2017.
The series will pick up immediately following the events of the 2014 feature film and continue to follow the relationship of teenage tech prodigy Hiro and his robot Baymax. The rest of the team — Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go — will return as well. Hiro will face the challenges of being a 14-year-old college student, as well as protecting the city of San Fransokyo from “an array of scientifically enhanced villains.”
“Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters,” Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels said in announcing the new series. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series — full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob — and Baymax — can deliver.”
Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, creators and executive producers of “Kim Possible,” will be the executive producers on the new series. Another “Kim Possible” alum, Nick Filippi, will serve as executive producer and supervising director.
