‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ crosses $1 Billion worldwide box office taken in record time
After 12 days of wide release “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has moved over the $1 billion box office mark, making it the 15th highest grossing film of all time, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com
The seventh movie in the sci-fi saga now grossed more than $544 million domestically and another $546 million internationally.
The movie continues to be a juggernaut in the U.S. with the second weekend box office estimates of $153 million. The first weekend, the movie grossed, $247.9 million. There is only one more country for the movie to open and that is China, the world’s second largest movie audience.
When “Avatar” was released it made $200 million in China. “Avatar” holds the top position on the all-time box office highest gross list.
Of the top 15 movies, Disney accounts for five of the spots, the most of any studio.
