Disneyland closing a number of attractions for the start of Star Wars land construction
Disneyland will be closing a number of attractions starting in January so construction can begin fon the new Star Wars Land.

The Rivers of American and the Disneyland Railroad will be closed temporarily, possibly up to a year, Disney announced. Big Thunder Ranch, including Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree – will permanently close at the end of the operating day on Jan. 10, 2016.
In addition, at the end of the day Jan. 10, Disneyland Railroad, Fantasmic!, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island and the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes will close temporarily so the expansion can take place.
The 14-acre land is supposed to be an immersive experience and take guests into a new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, Disney has previously announced.
Disney has not said how long the temporary closures will take place, there has been some speculation that it could be up to a year.
